appeal to the international community
In 2001, at the V.N. Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials NAS of Ukraine has resumed the work of Council of Young Scientists and specialists, which organizes and coordinates the activities of young scientists under the age of 35 years.
The Council consists of young scientists working in the departments of the three sections of the Academic Council.

Since 2002 (2002, 2004, 2006, 2013), the Council of young scientists every two years organizes and carries Ukrainian Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists "Super hard, composite materials and coatings: preparation, properties, and application.".
18-19 April 2006 the Council of young scientists and specialists IMS organized and carried out the Third Conference (Kiev,V.N. Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials NASU). At the conference 49 papers were contributed. For the best scientific content and presentation form four young scientists were awarded with prizes. In 2004 and 2006 printed collections of abstracts of conference participants were issued.
Council of young scientists and specialists is involved in the evaluation of scientific work of young scientists and graduate students .
In 2003 and 2005 the Council organized and carried out a competition for the best scientific work of young scientists and specialists of MS NASU. The winners awarded prizes.
In 2005, the Council held a competition "The Best Young Scientist of the Year." .
Council of young scientists of the Institute carries out activities aimed on to help for young scientists and specialists in rising their skills in research and scientific work, promotes the growth of their knowledge and professional skills, familiarizes young professionals with the traditions and history of the collective, the main directions of its work and development prospects.
To improve efficiency of use the ISM online scientific information resources by employees (young scientists and graduate students) from 21 to 24 November 2006 in the Scientific Information Centre of IMS department number 22 and the Council of young scientists and specialists organized and carried out practical training on working with the latest scientific - information resources.
In February - April 2007, by the Directorate of the Institute and the Council of young scientists was organized a course of lectures for graduate students and young scientists regarding the scientific activity of the Institute. 13 lectures has been presented by leading executives of ISM. In this lectures speakers described the latest achievements of domestic and foreign scientists.
In April-May 2007, by the Directorate the Institute and the Council of young scientists was organized and carried out competition for the best scientific paper of young scientists and specialists of ISV NASU. For the best research papers in the field of materials and machining processes, published in 2005-2007, young scientists and specialists IMS were awarded with one first, two second and three third prizes.
Council constantly informs young scientists of the Institute about the carrying out of competitions, conferences, announcements of grants and rendering assistance in preparing to participate in these grants.
