PUBLIC TRADITIONS FOR 50 YEARS
For a short time the Institute has grown from a small and poorly equipped enterprise into the largest research institution of the country. For its activities a high government award was conferred to the ISM. The development of the commercial production of synthetic diamonds, wide applications of them in industries promoted a rapid growth of the technical progress in the country.
The traditions established at the foundations of the Institute including the landscaping of the territory, tutorship, culture in the production and public life were supported and continued by the collective of the Institute and facilitated both scientific and production successes.
In the traditional holiday of the collective, which now is celebrated for the 50th time, Day of the Institute, the employees come with their natives and friends, visit laboratories, museum, walk along shady avenues, admiring the territory of the Institute, which is similar to a park. Various cheerful entertainments are arranged for the visitors, especially a lot of them are for children - they go horse-riding, drive small machines, participate in competitions and contests. One of the stands of the museum tells about this holiday, in a separate show-window the examples of all invitation cards to a holiday from the first up to the latter, medals and badges, holiday’s programs and a ribbon of a veteran of work, which is solemnly presented to everyone, who works in the collective for 25 years are assembled,.
The ISM collective occupies a position, which is respected and recognized by the Ukrainian and world communities thanks to the accumulated scientific achievements, namely, novel materials, high technologies, cited publications, books, diamond and hard-alloy products. This is certainly the basis. But the ISM attracts the attention of public by the labor achievements of the whole collective, looked- after territory, light corridors, marble ladders, and visible items of internal consolidation of the unity, equality, memory and diligence. It is embodied both in the known ISM museum (even outside Kiev) of good and glorious affairs, and in 50 years of the traditional annual Day of the Labor Glory. There are our charitable fund FOCAL, traditions of the Women Public Organization, Council of veterans and experienced workers, desire to save the unity of the collective in difficulties of today's life.
The skill of the workers, who deal with diamond, even independently of them, was propagated around the world, and the valuable product has become available. But the Bakul ISM keeps the main things, namely, experience and example of how the joint work, UNITY, EQUALITY, and mainly, labor, labor, and once more labor, DILIGENCE, always and everywhere bring to a person the valuable fruits.
